Installation Project Services (IPS) Ltd was set up in August 1996 by Phil Clayton, Bob Clayton and Chris Helden.
Since 1996 the company has expanded to achieve a turnover of £12m and delivers complex projects on behalf of high-profile customers.
What do we do?
IPS provides a complete communications solution, specifically for the rail industry, from system specification and integration, conceptual and detailed design, equipment selection and procurement, enabling works, installation and test, commissioning and handover. IPS have designed new integrated systems, assisted clients developing generic solutions as well as applying clients generic system designs to specific stations on both LU and Network Rail.
Communications systems are primarily about integration of separate systems and our expertise lies in the integration of; CCTV monitoring and recording, Passenger Information and Emergency Services, Public Address and Voice Evacuation, Visual Customer Information, security and Intruder detection, networking, clock systems as well as telephony, and radio systems.
IPS hold a skill set in all of the above communications disciplines and work closely with suppliers and clients to develop new solutions. Functionality and performance are key issues as well as the control and management of the communications systems and the relevant operational requirements, these are always foremost in the design and delivery of projects by IPS. Where IPS do not hold the specific skills in-house, then we employ specialised outside consultants with knowledge of the rail environment to provide these services, e.g. Acoustic, Human Factors and EMC Consultants.
IPS has been involved in the design and installation of all railway communication systems with over 20 LU stations designed and installations ranging from single station OPO upgrades to full station refurbishments.
IPS acquired Postfield Systems in 2005 in a move to expand their portfolio to other markets. Postfield Systems specialise in Driver Only Operation (DOO) CCTV Systems, External TFT Monitors and CRT Housings and associated structures.
