Crystal Palace communications enhancement project

Client: Mansell plc

Due to the extension of the East London Line north to Highbury & Islington and south to Crystal Palace, major enhancements were required to the communications systems.

Improvements were conducted at Crystal Palace station to increase the number of platforms on the Sydenham branch and to provide a refurbished Victorian listed building ticket hall and new step free access to platform levels.
To complement the station alterations and to provide more modern operational facilities, IPS staff were contracted to replace the station-based retail telecommunications. These included CCTV, Public Address and Voice Alarm (PA/VA), Customer Information Screens (CIS), Summary of Departure Boards (SODs), Help Points and Next Train Indicators.
